DETAILS: In this one-day intensive workshop, CAC Signature Artist Member Karl Dempwolf will demonstrate by working directly on each student's canvas, a hands-on, "three-dimensional" teaching process that will allow the workshop to focus on each student's individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Karl finds this unique approach to be very fruitful, allowing for much individual attention, and tailored to students at different levels of artistic experience.

DETAILS: In this ten day workshop, Dan Thompson will address long-pose life drawing and theoretical structure in drawing the human figure. The first day will focus on practice and design; for the rest of the workshop, the model will take a long pose, allowing students to explore questions of proportion, shape, structure, plane and details of the human form. The workshop will take place in a beautiful classical atelier setting with natural north-facing light.

DETAILS: This three day workshop with award-winning artist and CAC Signature Artist Member Calvin Liang will focus on painting from direct observation to achieve a better understanding of composition, design, and color harmony. Topics will include: planning composition to effectively express the artist's intentions; seeing and using warm and cool color in landscape; commanding hard and soft edges to create space; using basic design, value, color and drawing skills to simplify the subject matter; using paint texture and brushstroke direction to create forms; and getting the best possible results within limited time.

Workshops Packets
Most workshops are limited to a maximum of sixteen students. A Packet
of Workshop Information will be sent out to each student 1-2 weeks
prior to the start of the workshop, containing Itineraries, Maps,
Instructor Bios, Supply Lists, Recommended
Hotels (Pasadena), Restaurants (Pasadena)
and more. (Click links to view general recommended workshop information
online. Each instructor may have specific info for their workshops - these
will be provided to you prior to the start of the class. Most of our workshops
take place in and around Pasadena; hence the hotel and restaurant recommendations
will relate to that area. We can also make suggestions in these areas
when the workshops take place elsewhere.)
