Opening Exhibition

August 31 - September 30, 1927

Held at the Hollyhock House, Barnsdall Park, 4800 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90027,
to mark the beginning of the Club's new headquarters at the Hollyhock House.

Officers of the California Art Club:
E. ROSCOE SHRADER, President

[The design above is from the cover of the original exhibition pamphlet. This logo is seen subsequently on Gold Medal catalogue covers dating from the Hollyhock years, specifically the 18th (1927), 19th (1928), 20th (1929), 21st (1930), 23rd (1932), and 24th Annual (1933). It also appears on the front page of the CAC Bulletin, beginning in August 1927. Designed by Harrison Wily (then Art Director for Columbia Pictures Corporation), it was based on Frank Lloyd Wright's "formalized" geometric hollyhock design, but with an added border around three of it's sides. It was also used as the letterhead design on the Club's stationary. -Ed.]

From the pamphlet: "The works of art in this exhibition are for sale at studio prices. Information concerning them may be obtained from Mrs. Tidball, Executive Secretary."
